Instruction in Piano

  • Using internationally recognized and proven methods, the Studio prepares students to play real music from the very beginning, by acquainting the student with the whole keyboard right from the start.
  • The Studio accepts students of all ages at all levels of musical experience.
  • The Studio will teach you:
    1. Basic keyboard technique, including arm, hand and finger position, note recognition and key pressure;
    2. Basic music theory, including notation, rhythmic context and key awareness;
    3. Dynamic and lyric phrasing with an ear to developing a well-conceived and interpreted musical line;
    4. Historical and cultural contexts of the music literature being undertaken;
    5. Performance techniques necessary for good physical presentation and competent playing of selections in concert settings.

Performance Opportunities

  • The Studio encourages all students at all levels of preparation to participate in performance opportunities such as recitals, concerts and shows.
  • The Studio presents students with two such opportunities per year, usually in mid-winter and in late spring.
  • Students are never forced to participate if they are uncomfortable or do not feel equal to the challenge. The Studio strongly supports the student’s right to decline such opportunities until he or she feels ready to participate.

Instruction in Voice

  • The Studio specializes in Diction for Singers, which is the study of phonemic sound formation for voice students who must learn to sing songs and arias in foreign languages, as well as in English.
  • The Studio has over 29 years of experience in teaching for the voice and has had great success in preparing young students for admission to college, through solid audition experiences.
  • The Studio will teach you:
    1. Basic vocal technique, including posture, breath control, diction and phrasing;
    2. Basic music theory, including notation, rhythmic context and key awareness;
    3. Dynamic and lyric phrasing with an ear to developing a well-conceived and interpreted musical line;
